Spybot – Search & Destroy It is helpful or efficient?

Does anyone use or have used the antispyware tool: "Spybot - Search & Destroy"?

What is the opinion of the crowd?

In my view it is not a program that is necessary, no detection as Malwarebytes, if you attached the part of testers malware detection is pretty bad, there are better options on the market. I heard from some friends that he has much false positives, do not know if it's true ..

I would not bother with something that detects zero threats by signatures but apparantly the other features as one mentioned above seems to be populair with many.

I have used Spybot Search & Destroy, but 1.4-1.6 on Windows XP - years ago. The latest version 2 is "too complex" to use, or what's going on. They also have a paid version that includes the Bitdefender engine.

Just to say, I stopped using Spybot when Windows Vista was released.

It did not come up with fp's for me but my amount of programs are less than the average user.

That's what I said, some people say, I had no firsthand. Have used it about 6 months ago, I did not like and already use malwarebytes, Emsisoft Ek a long time, watch as unnecessary, more is at the discretion of each use or not. I do not wearer. Many programs would be in my case, and no need

spybot whas usefull back in the day when you got high risk getting infected with lop , spysherif and other fake antispyware....the beginning days of so called spyware: today its obsulete because it does not deal with the complex threats like the way mbam or hmp does!

I've used a few times Spybot - Search & Destroy on windows XP (Any 3 years) but found very weak despite being recommended by several sites. After a few years I read many negative reports from users and websites that before praising this anti-spyware.

Now say that was pretty bad (a decline). I see no specialized forums in the removal of Malware recommending the use of it.
