IMO the snail speed development from v1.6 to 2.0, and taking the wrong path(s) has taken away their full potential as a usable product.

I wouldn't say it's useless, but it's far from being effective:
- Very slow in processing / scanning files.
- Over-complicated UI and complex functions, therefore not very user-friendly
- For Full AV protection (included Bitdefender engine), it's NOT Free.

Mind you, v1.x was good back in the days on XP and Vista.

You can't juge a program by "useless". Otherwise, do 1/1000 anything like SpyBot, if you're able.
Sorry but it's a hard word for any programs/projects.

They don't offer a trial of the Pro version.

It means it's weak to detect malware. There are other better free alternatives available which doing better job currently

im agree with you, juge a progamm just by one word is easy even if the result is bad. Made an antivirus isnt easy

What part of ZERO detection don't you understand? There was a time when Spybot was great at detection. Those days have passed IMO. If you want to use it feel free to do so. I hope you have good backup!

Scanning files is pretty bad because it is thought to scan real infections (like ADWcleaner) or scanning traces like Emsisoft

Poor ole Spybot,it was the one back in the day and that day is clearly long over.

Back to the drawing board is a phrase that springs to mind.

I don't know if Spybot can/will fix the program. The worst thing about Spybot is it caused my mouse pointer to blink. This is unacceptable to me & I removed the program.
