When I type a web address in my web browser, "force.com" or "salesforce.com" comes up in it. Here's an example: **https://k12parentportal.force.com/portal_enrollmenthome**. Everything is correct except force.com being in it. I think the actual address is https://K12parentportal/enrollmenthome, but it's hard to tell at this point. Now, although I type in the correct address in my web browser and it goes to the address that I type, for instance: if I type in https://K12parentportal/enrollmenthome, force.com shows up as part of the web address. I won't sign into the website **https://k12parentportal.force.com/portal_enrollmenthome**, because I don't know if it's safe. It was happening in random sites, but now it seems to just show up in this one. It happens in Internet Explorer and Firefox. I reset IE, but it keeps happening. This has been going on for several weeks. It will also redirect my browser to "salesforce.com". I had never been to that website until my browser was redirected. But it's still there. I have tried everything to remove it from my computer, but nothing works. Can anyone please help me with this?
Thank you.
Beverly

Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:
  • At the top of your post, please click on the "Watch thread" button and make sure to check Watch this thread...and receive email notifications. This will send an email to you as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing me to solve your problem faster.
  • Please do not install any new software during the cleaning process other than the tools I provide for you. This can hinder the cleaning process. Please do not perform System Restore or any other restore.
  • Instructions I give to you are very simple and made for complete beginner to follow. That's why you need to read through my instructions carefully and completely before executing them.
  • Please do not run any tools other than the ones I ask you to, when I ask you to. Some of these tools can be very dangerous if used improperly. Also, if you use a tool that I have not requested you use, it can cause false positives, thereby delaying the complete cleaning of your machine.
  • All tools we use here are completely clean and do not contain any malware. If your antivirus detects them as malicious, please disable your antivirus and then continue.
  • If during the process you run across anything that is not in my instructions, please stop and ask. If any tool is running too much time (few hours), please stop and inform me.
  • I visit forum several times at day, making sure to respond to everyone's topic as fast as possible. But bear in mind that I have private life like everyone and I cannot be here 24/7. So please be patient with me. Also, some infections require less, and some more time to be removed completely, so bear this in mind and be patient.
  • Please stay with me until the end of all steps and procedures and I declare your system clean. Just because there is a lack of symptoms does not indicate a clean machine. If you solved your problem yourself, set aside two minutes to let me know.
  • Please attach all report using
    fjqb1h.png
button below. Doing this, you make it easier for me to analyze and fix your problem.

  • If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

You still need to attach Addition.txt report.

I only got one report when I ran the Farbar Recovery Tool. I ran it over and over to try and get the addition.txt report, but it only generated the Frst.txt report. There were some other reports that were generated; however, they are RFO, _GS, and GLS files that can't be opened and not what you requested, so I didn't want to include them. I sure hope that I haven't screwed this up.

Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on
    FRST.gif
    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

I am enclosing the file: Fixlog.txt. There is something that I'm bringing to your attention, although, it doesn't seem to be significant, but since I'm not sure I want you to be aware of it. After I restarted my computer and opened Internet Explorer, I got a pop up box with this message inside:
A program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer has reset this setting to your original provider (www.bing.com). Internet Explorer will now open Search Settings, where you can change this setting or install more search providers.
I clicked OK to close the box and it took me to Search Settings, but I didn't change anything.

This is very complicated because I thought it had stopped happening, since I hadn't seen "force.com" insert in IE lately--although my mouse is still moving around on its own--and it's still showing up in Firefox. I did notice that now it only shows up in the K12 website, instead of random sites. (I also noticed that It will show up in IE if I try to access the Parent Portal)

So, I tried a few different things to try and pinpoint as much as I can, what is happening. When I first typed in https://k12parentportal_enrollmenthome.com or https://k12parentportal.com/enrollmenthome it wouldn't open, but would take me to the diagnostic page for IE to diagnose connection problems. When I typed in: http://k12parentportal.com it took me to "godaddy.com" and a page that asks me if I want to buy the domain name: k12parentportal.com. Then I went to: www.k12.com/azva and clicked on "How to Enroll" then "login" and it took me to https://k12parentportal.force.com/portal_enrollmenthome. I can get to the login page if I just click on the OLS link in the upper right corner of www.k12.com/azva--but, not the parent portal login without "force.com" inserting in the web address. For some reason that seems to have become part of the web address of the parent portal. This is a tough one.

If you're getting this messages, that means this site is down and not working. Your PC seems clean, this is not caused by malware.
