Good call on WD vs Avast. The change in protection is not so important and it's covered by VS.
I really like Avast and I want to jump on the Avast bandwagon with everyone else, but I can't help but notice a significant impact on my everyday usage when I install it. I keep reading "Avast is lighter than WD," but I don't see it at all.

I noticed high disk IO with Avast installed. Maybe you had something similar. If you use an hdd it will be way worse than what i noticed i assume

Thanks, I always keep a Windows system image on deck right after a clean install.
