Solved Tabs Popping up in Chrome on Their own.

Hi,

I am having difficulty with popups that are opening in Chrome (doesn't occur in other browsers) in new tabs. They not only force me to go to that tab, but also minimize any program that i am currently using. I have tried many methods to fixing this as stated in the description above. I've been awake all night trying to fix this and nothing seems to be working, all scans come up as clean and I'm not sure what to do now. I could just stop using chrome but I am worried that there is some kind of virus or malware on my PC that may get worse.

Hello,

Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.

Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

• Right-click on
  
  icon and select
  
  Run as Administrator to start the tool.
  (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
• Press the Fix button just once and wait.
• If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
• When finishes FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Seems to be fixed, I left a window open all night and no popups triggered. Chrome did change its name and icon to one of my extensions, but this was fixed upon reinstalling chrome.

Do you know the reason I wasnt able to fix this through the scans and fixes i tried to carry out before contacting you?

Massive thanks, this has been stressing me out a lot. I'll let you know if any issues regarding this occur again.

It is because it worked through a Task Scheduler unlike the conventional malware that has executables.
