You have to choose: free e-mail service or private e-mail service. You can't have both.

Yes, some private e-mail providers offer free plan, but those are heavily limited by available space and by the number of mails you can send in a day. Not to mention, some also limit privacy features.

I'm using Outlook.com, not because it's the most private one, but because it's free and I managed to grab username containing my first and last name, so I can use it as my official e-mail address. And of course, they don't really limit any of features except encryption.

I also use Gmail and some less known e-mail service for less important stuff.

I receive a lot of spam on my GMail account, but it rarely passes their spam filter. It's very rare ill see one in my inbox.

Outlook is quite organized, in some aspects I prefer it over GMail.

If you are concerned about privacy of your EMails, Proton is probably the best choice.

Equivalency with ProtonMail with additional features. Better options.

But for best results with any service, your messages do not get the increased protections unless the recipient is also using the same platform and they are neither downloaded, printed, or otherwise shared & saved outside of the secure platform. This is something few people consider.
  1. "Oh. I use Tutanota\Proton\Etc. I am secure. My email communications are well protected."
  2. "Does everybody you communicate with via email also use Tutanota\Proton\Etc?"
  3. "No. They do not."
  4. "Yikes! Your emails are not as secure as you think. In fact, they are not protected very well."

ProtonMail is giving me the lowest amount of spam. Maybe I get spam once a month often less. On Gmail I would get multiple spam mails daily.

Has, by any chance, your e-mail address exposed to some data breach? If so, that's the reason why you're getting spam. I'm getting 0 spam on Outlook.com whatsoever. I did get it in the past when everyone was getting it, but it appears Microsoft took care of it and I have a clean inbox for a years now.

I have been using Fastmail.com for many years as primary. posteo Germany is very good, and I do use Proton and have Tuta, but use Proton more and save important email on Proton.
I probably should ditch a few primary email accounts and migrate to Tuta. I was always satisfied with Tutanota. The Revolutionary Plan is a good value for a paid plan.
