I had the problem and i assumed Microsoft edge was the issue, when i removed the program the issue stopped for 3-5 days. I was about to open the laptop and give it to my friend when all of a sudden the problem continues, it keeps opening then closing, whenever i go on google chrome it reset to the homepage making the laptop nearly impossible to use whatsoever. Any idea what the issue is? Its starting to get annoying and i cant find an issue.
Thank you!

The time and effort you have put into this is admirable, at this
point I suspect you "had" something that corrupted the system.
Have you thought about doing a clean install of your OS ?
or a refresh ?
Sometimes this is the best and prudent option.

Sorry for the late reply, is this any different than a system restore? I've done a system restore and it hasn't resolved the issue.

Yes very dif, seeing even the restore point can be corrupted.
Start from scratch and reinstall the OS, it will stop the
"Cat & Mouse" game and give you a definitive solution.

Step 1> Open settings and at the bottom select "Update & Security"
Step 2> In Update & Security select "Recovery"
Step 3> In Recovery Select "Rest This PC" & follow the prompts
Windows will walk you through it. See SS Below.
my advise would be to not keep anything when given the option.

This will save you a lot of headache in the long run. Good Luck ;)
