When Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Ubuntu announced that the next version of the popular Linux, Ubuntu 11.04, would use Unity, instead of GNOME as its default desktop interface he shocked the Linux desktop community. Now, with the release of the Ubuntu 11.04 beta, we can get a real look at Unity.

Very colorful. Didn't that originally come from their netbook edition?

I tried the Netbook edition in VirtualBox once, but some it reverted back to the desktop GUI. Strange.

Looks nice, might get around to adding to the already quad booting net-book.

They united those 2 versions in one(Desktop and Netbook). With the new release they will change their names to Ubuntu Unity and Ubuntu Server.

It will be interesting to see what ubuntu has to offer :)

Ubuntu is good and I like it as best. OpenSUSE as a funny design ^^

RE: Ubuntu 11.04 Beta 2 Is Available for Download

A few minutes ago, the second and last Beta version of the upcoming Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) operating system was made available for testing by the Ubuntu developers. As usual, we've grabbed a copy of it in order to keep you up-to-date with the latest changes in the Ubuntu 11.04 development cycle.

What's new in Ubuntu 11.04 Beta 2? Well, not much has been changed since Beta 1, only bug fixes and various improvements, especially to Unity, which will be the default for the final version of Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal). This is the last development release of Ubuntu 11.04. The final version is expected by the end of the month!
