Last May, there was unwelcome news for Mass Effect fans as BioWare confirmed that the next instalment in the hugely popular gaming series had been delayed, and wouldn't arrive until the first quarter of 2017.
But there's good news today, as BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn announced that Mass Effect: Andromeda will launch in North America on March 21, and in Europe on March 23.
But there's good news today, as BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn announced that Mass Effect: Andromeda will launch in North America on March 21, and in Europe on March 23.
Describing it as the "most ambitious Mass Effect game to date", Flynn explained:
We’re telling completely new stories, creating new characters, new planets, new species, and introducing new gameplay systems. And for the first time, we’re bringing Mass Effect to the Frostbite game engine, an incredible engine that’s delivering a tremendous graphical jump from the trilogy to Mass Effect: Andromeda. To deliver on this, we’re taking all the time we can to make sure you’re getting the best possible experience.
Having already taken some extra time to work on the game, BioWare developers extensively played and tested a 'holiday build' at their homes over the festive season. It seems that they were so satisfied with the results that the company is now confident to commit to a firm date for the game's release.
Mass Effect: Andromeda will be available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles, and on PCs.
