Mozilla has been working on revamping the address bar for a while. Now, that redesigned address bar is finally live on Firefox’s Nightly branch.

Mozilla has released a new version of Firefox Nightly featuring significant updates to the address bar, in an attempt to revamp the browser’s user experience. The changes, according to Mozilla, focus on improved search functionality, intuitive navigation, and increased security.

One notable addition is the Unified Search Button, allowing users to effortlessly switch between search engines and search modes directly from the address bar. If you need to slightly tweak your query, search refinements are made easier with Search Term Persistence, which retains the original search term while allowing for modifications.

Thanks for sharing this update. The revamped address bar in Firefox Nightly sounds like a promising improvement, especially the Unified Search Button and Search Term Persistence features. It's great to see Mozilla focusing on user experience and security. Looking forward to seeing these changes in the stable version of Firefox.

I love Firefox but I absolutely hate the way Mozilla is developing this browser. There are billions of bugs reported and present in the browser, but Mozilla keeps touching features that work normally and messes them up. Then they put all resources on dealing with that one thing that wasn't even broken in the first place, instead solving bugs that are still present and reported years ago.

It took them 12 months to fix copy-paste bug which is the basic feature of any web browser. Yes, 12 months for a feature that shouldn't have been broken in the first place. Mozilla really need to restructure their priorities and all teams working on the browser.

fwiw I've been using firefox as my primary browser most of this year (linux & windows) & I haven't noticed any bugs or problems -- most likely I don't do anything "complicated" now-a-days...

Mozilla slowly turns into a ad company especially as google is going to stop paying them most of their funding

Nice some have bugs some don't experience or notice
Anyway I would recommend having brave as a backup as it can block CNAME too

The biggest eyesore for me is their implementation of dictionary and spell check. Install two or more dictionaries, Firefox will deactivate all but one depending on the website language.

Example: I have two dictionaries installed—Croatian and English. Whenever I visit a website in English, Firefox will automatically disable Croatian spell checker. And when I visit a website in Croatian, English dictionary will be deactivated.

This is so annoying because I want both dictionaries active constantly as I need spell check for both languages, doesn't matter the language of the website. There are many foreign websites that are translated to Croatian, but I'm required to post in English because of the community. Then I have to manually turn on English spell checker to work.
Luckily, I have to do that only once and it will stay remembered, at least until I delete site data.

This is expected. Mozilla currently survives on Google's payments which will stop soon as they lost their anti-trust case in the US. They have to find another source of revenue and at the same time can't break their promises otherwise they'll lose that small amount of users they have. Advertising is the easiest way to make huge money, and that's the only reason why Mozilla went this way.

I just hope the browser won't be held hostage of their decisions like that's the case with Google and Chrome.

I think uBlock Origin on Firefox can also block CNAME. But yeah, Brave is my alternative as well. Though, they are exactly the same like Firefox, regarding development and fixing bugs.
