Thunderbird is a great email client from the same people who brought you the Firefox browser.

Thunderbird gives you IMAP/POP support, a built-in RSS reader, support for HTML mail, powerful quick search, saved search folders, advanced message filtering, message grouping, labels, return receipts, smart address book LDAP address completion, import tools, and the ability to manage multiple e-mail and newsgroup accounts.
  • Tabbed email
  • An Archive feature similar to the one in GMail
  • Lightning fast search
  • Smart folders

I really like Thunderbird. I use it beta version and I don't have any problems with it.

I heard about Early Bird, it is more unstable version of Thunderbird but I afraid to test it...

Full version released.
  • New ability to search the Web
  • Improvements to email search
  • Several fixes when drafting email
  • and several other platform fixes

Update:
  • Fixes an issue that may cause hangs when handling IMAP mail
  • Fixes an issue that may cause filters that move mail to specific folders to be erronously changed.

Sources.

Update:
  • Fix various issues relating to new mail notifications and filtering on POP3 based accounts.
  • Fixes an occasional startup crash seen in TB 12.0.
  • Fixes an issue with corrrupted message bodies when using movemail.

What’s New:
  • YouSendIt no longer expires Filelinks after 1 week.
  • The prompt given when a password had changed sometimes referred to a network error rather than a change of password.
  • Some Linux users may have been unable to start Thunderbird from outside the installation directory.
  • Miscellaneous other stability and display updates.

Known Issues:
  • If you are unable to view content for your RSS feeds in the Wide View Layout, you may need to disable the Lightning Calendar add-on if you have it installed or switch to Classic View and restart Thunderbird. (see 531397)
  • Running TB 12 with local mail folders and pop3 mail filters may produce summary files that aren't correctly read by previous versions of Thunderbird. If you decide to go back to a previous version of Thunderbird after running TB 12, you should delete the .msf files for your local folders and pop3 accounts, or repair the folders using the folder properties dialog, to avoid potential data loss.
