First and foremost, I practice safe hex to keep my machine clean. I don't use warez/cracked software, I don't go to porn sites, I don't do on-line gambling. I use a public DNS server, I have a hardware firewall with SPI on my internet connection and don't allow file-sharing apps. I don't open attachments I wasn't expecting, I display extensions for known file types so I can see when someone is trying to obfuscate things with multiple extensions and naming tricks. I perform a manual scan with Malwarebytes at the deepest level at least once a week and at least once every two weeks I use TDSSKiller and at least one other AV Rescue Disk to scan my system from outside of Windows. And I monitor the activities of those who have machines on my network. WiFi is, of course, encrypted using WPA2 and AES. No password is shorter than 8 characters and, unless prevented by inappropriate password policies, all passwords include upper and lower case letters, at least 1 number and at least one symbol. No password is used for more than one location/login, and no password contains an unaltered dictionary word.
