The accelerating pace of technology and criminal cyber capability currently outpaces the UK’s collective response to cybercrime, calling for stronger collaborative working between government, law enforcement and, crucially, business to reduce vulnerabilities and prevent crime.

An assessment by the National Crime Agency shows that cybercrime activity is growing fast and evolving, with the threats from DDoS and ransomware attacks increasing significantly in 2015.

The most advanced and serious cybercrime threat to the UK is the direct or indirect result of a few hundred international cybercriminals, who target UK businesses to commit highly profitable, malware-facilitated fraud.

How cybercrime impacts the UK economy
Data breaches are the most common cybercrime committed against businesses and the NCA estimates that cybercrime costs the UK economy billions of pounds per year.

Under-reporting continues to obscure the full impact of cybercrime. This shortfall in reporting hampers the ability of law enforcement to understand the operating methods of cyber criminals and most effectively respond to the threat.

The NCA is urging businesses to view cybercrime not only as a technical issue but as a board-level responsibility, and to make use of the reporting paths available to them, sharing intelligence with law enforcement and each other.

Thanks FrOg :)
Yeah it shows no ones is immune.
I grew up in some beautiful areas including Miami FL and Charlotte NC
and the times have changed so much you couldn't pay me to live in Miami now.
We loose so much to crime and corruption every year it's hard to keep track of.

Great Share @frogboy ,Thanks :)
The Government's here have not been very good at correctly prioritising where/how to spend our money...;)
I think that generally things are only considered important avenues of funding if they can be exploited as easy, shiny vote-winning policies...and often the foundations that support them are left to rot..
I'm convinced that if many of our front-bench politicians had personally been victims of Cybercrime then funding/research would have been invested sooner:rolleyes:

Well there is no perfect solution to eliminate cybercrimes but rather suppress them dramatically.

Developed countries should have more advantage, to create a strategic plan on prevention.

We have the technologies to solve the problems but seems the range still varies.

--------------------------------------

For example: Ransomware, why not capture ' the big fish' or main source of production rather those small time only.

Thanks for sharing my friend and yes the cybercrime is not different from the crime that we well know, but simply the crime performed with other tools, through the cyberspace in fact, and it's certainly a method that is revolutionizing traditional crime, making It cheaper and easier to be implemented and for this more effective. The most disturbing aspect of this phenomenon, and that differentiates It from the traditional one, is definitely the fact of not having physical frontiers and does not consider geographical distances.
