A few times during shut-down my parent’s PC has displayed a blue screen with a message stating “Getting Windows Ready Don't Turn off Your Computer.” Nothing appears to happen and then about 2 hours later it shuts down. I’ve also noticed that I cannot get windows updates to work. The update gets to 20% and then (0x80073701) error appears.
After some searching I carried out the following fixes which haven’t worked;
Windows Update Troubleshooter
Restart Windows Update services
Reset Winsock component
Flush DNS cache
I followed these instructions; Reset Windows Update in Windows 10
I also followed these instructions;
support.microsoft.com
I’d like this PC to continue working until the end of the year when hopefully I will have built a new PC.
Any help is much appreciated.

When trying to install updates from Windows Update you might receive "Updates Failed. There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later" with Errors: 0x80073701, 0x800f0988 - Microsoft Support
