I am looking to upgrade from my linksys wireless G. My computers stay connected, but I get random breaks in the wireless service that I notice while listenting to Pandora; it is sporadic, as there is no pattern. The internet is slow too, even on Sunday morning at 7AM. The biggest problem I am facing, is that when another computer is on the network and downloading while mine is, downloads slow to a crawl. All PC's are malware free and otherwise work well, and show strong connectionsignals all of the time. There are three PC's and one laptop on the network. I suspect I need to get a new router.

Should I upgrade to one of the following? Ideas?

Linksys E2500 Advanced Simultaneous Dual Band Wireless-N Router

Linksys E3200 High Performance Simultaneous Dual Band Wireless-N Router

Linksys E1200 Wireless-N Router

My current router is about 3 years old.

Not one of the computers is more than 30 feet from the router. Each is separated by a floor or wall, but not both.

The E2500 is pretty good, if a little expensive. It has good range, a good firewall, has a guest network and it supports simultaneous 2.4GHz and 5Ghz radios.
Does all your devices support wireless-N? Do you live in a crowded environment? Do you do a lot of network intensive work, like file transfers, torrents or HD video streaming?

The E2500 is probably the best all-rounder of the bunch, but if you just use your internet to browse the web, then the E1200 will do an equally fine job.

I am in a house in a spacey neighborhood.
I need to check if all my devices support wireless N.
Yes, I have a lot of HD video streaming, and it is at a crawl most of the time.

In that case the E1200 should do just fine. Or maybe the E1500 would be a good middle-ground. It has 3 antennas instead of 2 and ipv6 support for a bit of future proofing.

get a dual band and set your slower devices on the 2.4ghz segment and your n-devices on the 5ghz segment. I usually go with Netgear for friends and family, just got a Netgear N900 for my parents and it's great. I ran a third antenna for my dad's laptop and he gets great DL speeds. Just remember Linksys is owned by Cisco but their contribution is just a sticker and not anything technical.

I think that you should get Linksys E2500 Advanced Simultaneous Dual Band Wireless-N Router has what iPanik said, a fire wall and a guests network which is great. Only thing about it is that it does not have a gigabit Ethernet port, which if you don't get those speed then it will be fine ;)
