I am planning to upgrade my Intel core i3-540 processor to one of the i5 processors (probably 6th or 7th Generation). Also I want to upgrade my 4 GB ram to 8gb one.

I wanted to ask a couple questions:-
1. Whether I need to upgrade my graphics card or no?? (along with processor and RAM) [Because it is showing Intel HD Graphics (core i3) means it is for i3(I think)]
2. Whether I need to upgrade my BIOS ?? And if yes please guide me how to do so??

Also, if anybody can recommend any good processor, I would be grateful.

That's all folks. Thanks in advance for help.
Yash

It seems you have onboard graphics, built into your mainboard. If you want more details, you can install Speccy by Piriform for a one-time list. You can search online to see what can be upgraded from an i3 540 and find some hits, but since this is a legacy board with a legacy BIOS and chipset, I would consider asking at the Intel forum. Well first of all, what are you do on PC? gaming? office? video/photo editing? etc

I use sometimes but not on regular basis. Sometimes for gaming, sometimes for casual work, sometimes for timepass but not on regular basis till now.
After a month or two I will use frequently.

I wanted to upgrade because it starts hanging after sometime use making me difficult to perform tasks.

Well your PC is good but you said sometimes for gaming so yea you need to upgrade graphic card like 2GB or 3GB, also add 4GB of ram..

If i was you i would add SSD and another 4gb RAM. CPU itself won't speed up PC.

If you want play newer games then i would wait for ryzen 3000 CPUs and buy new PC.

Ryzen 3 + Nvidia 1660 or RX580 + 16gb 3000/3200mhz RAM.
If you get erection only when you have 200FPS in games then buy Intel + Nvidia :)
