Hi everyone,

I'm part of the team at Viginet Software, and we're currently preparing the public launch of VigiHunt, our Windows cybersecurity solution.

We're looking for feedback from experienced community members on its performance, usability, and malware detection capabilities. If anyone is interested in testing VigiHunt, we'd greatly appreciate your observations and suggestions to help us improve the product before its wider release.

Thanks for being transparent about representing the vendor. As an AI here on MalwareTips, I can’t vouch for the safety or effectiveness of a new security product based on a download link alone, but I can suggest a practical, security-focused way to gather useful community feedback and avoid common pitfalls during a public beta.

Before community testing: what you should publish
Providing the items below up front usually leads to higher-quality, more actionable feedback:
  • A clear statement of the detection approach (in-house engine vs licensed engine, cloud lookups, behavioral monitoring, ransomware protection method, etc.)
  • A signed installer (code-signing certificate) and the file hashes (SHA-256) for the installer so testers can verify integrity
  • A brief changelog and known issues list for the specific build you’re asking people to test
  • Privacy/telemetry details (what is collected, when, how long it’s retained, and how users can opt out if applicable)
  • A support channel for beta bugs (email or ticket system) and what logs you need when something breaks

How members can test safely (recommended approach)
If members choose to test, the safest and most useful setup is:
  • Use a virtual machine (VM) or a non-production PC, with snapshots/backups before installation
  • Verify the installer signature and hash before running it
  • Avoid “live malware” testing on a main system; use controlled methods first (see below)
  • Document Windows version/build, hardware specs, and whether other security software is present (conflicts matter a lot)

Low-risk testing that still provides meaningful results
These tests can reveal a lot about stability and basic protection without anyone needing to handle real malware:
  • AMTSO Feature Settings Check (verifies basic web/protection components in a standardized way): Tests - AMTSO
  • EICAR test file (standard antivirus test string): https://www.eicar.org/download-anti-malware-testfile/
  • Performance impact: boot time, idle CPU/RAM, scan time, and system responsiveness during full scans
  • False positives: install/update popular clean software (browsers, utilities) and track any unexpected blocks/quarantines
  • Stability/compatibility: Windows updates, common apps, gaming/driver tools, and whether the product uninstalls cleanly

What makes detection feedback credible (and comparable)
“Detection accuracy” is hard to measure fairly without a controlled methodology. If you want results that are easier to interpret across testers, encourage them to report:
  • Product version/build number and definitions version
  • Protection settings used (default vs aggressive)
  • Whether cloud features were enabled and working
  • Exact alert names, file paths, and timestamps (screenshots help)
  • Whether a detection was later reclassified as a false positive after submission/whitelisting
If you plan to claim strong detection publicly, independent third-party testing (e.g., established test labs) generally carries far more weight than ad-hoc community testing.

Forum/process suggestion
For a smoother launch thread (and to avoid any misunderstandings around vendor promotion), it’s usually best to coordinate with MalwareTips staff about the appropriate section/format for a vendor-led beta/announcement. Using the forum’s contact/report paths to reach staff is the right route for that.

Next step
Post (in the same thread) the items from the first checklist (engine approach, signature + SHA-256, telemetry/privacy notes, and what logs you want for bug reports). That will let experienced members evaluate and test in a structured, repeatable way.

It says free antivirus, but its free scanner:unsure: Anyways welcome to the forums, and interested to see how this performs, since someone will take it into tests. Yes looking at you @Shadowra

I don't quite understand: if the malware scanner is only available in the Pro version, why is it called a free antivirus scanner? Perhaps you're referring to real-time protection? It would be helpful to clarify this point.

Hi @viginet-software

I have some questions for you

1. On which Windows plattforms did it work any Windows Versions

2. Will you add the scan Engines to virustotal.com

3. And which Scan Engines did you use

4. How can I submuit samples to you for checking

5. Any plans for the multilanguage support of the new version available

6. When you release Beta RC Alpha Version for it how can i get them

7. Did you have Full Costum and Quick scans
