VLC Media Player - Some useful settings

VLC is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols.

Plays everything: Files, Discs, Webcams, Devices and Streams.

Plays most codecs with no codec packs needed:
MPEG-2, DivX, H.264, MKV, WebM, WMV, MP3...

Runs on all platforms: Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Unix...

• Tick "Allow only one instance"
• Untick "resize interface to video size"

• Never tick " Normalize volume to: "

• Tick "Always on top"

• You may select "fast" in "x264 preset and tuning selection "

​

• Click "Save" when done

• Select "All " in " Show settings " to show advanced preferences
• Select "secret rabbit code resampler" in "Audio resampler"

​

• Increase "Resampling quality " to 10

​

• Select " Sample rate convertor type " to " Sinc fuction (best quality) "

• Click "Save" when done

I really do like the VLC player. I always use it when playing visual media (what I meant by "visual media" is films, videos, mp4 files etc). However, when I listen to mp3 I just use Windows Media Player.
