After a long period of testing, the final version of VLC Media Player v3.0.0 was finally released this Friday for Windows and other platforms.

VLC Media Player is a free software platform with support for playback of various formats of audio and video files - including MKV, WMV, Ogg and others - without the need for third-party codec packs. It can also play DVDs, VCDs and includes support for various streaming protocols.

Another detail is that the software can be used as a server to stream IPv4 or IPv6 networks. It also includes support for 10-bit Jpeg-2000, Dirac and DNxHD / VC-3, EBU (stl) subtitles and other features.

VLC Media Player v3.0.3 can also be customized with skins available on its official website, supports playback of videos with external subtitles (.srt and other formats) and more.

Version 3.0.0 of VLC Media Player discontinues support for Windows Vista without the Atualização de Plataforma, adds support for HDMI passthrough for HD Audio codecs such as E-AC3 and TrueHD, adds support for 12-bit codecs and extended color spaces (HDR), adds support for hardware-based HEVC decoding in Windows using DxVA2 and D3D11, and more.

Can't wait, last time I tried this HEVC mkvs were broken, back when it was RC, got the win32 build for now, files seem to work now, I'll remove win32 and switch to 64 as soon as it's available

I can't get casting to work properly. Every time I start casting something, it's just loading. Sometimes video will play just for a few seconds and then randomly freezes. Casting with other apps from phone and PC works flawlessly. Tried nightly versions few times before release of 3.0.0, didn't work either.
