Advice Request VS Whitelist Snapshot Scan - Recommended Interval

The default setting is 5 mins.

Is this a separate scanning component from the main program i.e System Snapshot or the same? If so, what is the recommended interval for the whitelist scan?

Is every 5 minutes too RAM intensive or would it slow down other programs?

Way too often in my opinion, if I remember correctly I was using something like every 12 hours.
