lol hard choice , those two were my favorite AVs.

i will say Emsisoft because WSA on a Win8.1.1 x64 machine uses too much Pagefile RAM

There is no AV which can compete with Hackers.
If Hacker want your password they will.

it is the thing that always bugged me; how come any big security corporation relies on 3rd party website kits for securing their sites; with all their developers/engineers/network admins; they should be able to secure their website properly.

Other. Why? Because, although I lack an experienced user's perspective on either of these AVs, I have read lots of passionate opinions both for and against these two popular antivirus programs which (IMh observer's Opinon) based upon forum consensus here, would each receive the bronze & silver medals to ESET's gold. ..I think..

Tough choice! I think it's depends on what we need, if I had a PC with low rigs, I'd like to pick webroot just in terms of lightness, but my vote goes for Emsisoft for a security solution (doesn't mean webroot isn't good enought thou...webroot is one of my favorite Av and so Emsisoft)

Why not run both?
Umbra Polaris can attest to the compatibility of the two. I run both on one of my test PC's and it's a fantastic combo!
