It's that wonderful weekend time again, and yes that means we have another weekend poll for you guys as always.

Windows Vista represented one of the largest changes to Windows Microsoft ever undertook, both in terms of features and interface, however the end result was less than desirable. The new Aero interface did look great at the time, but it required many people still using older Windows XP machines to upgrade their PCs to experience it, and driver and compatibility issues plagued those who merely upgraded to the new OS.

Sources.

Question is, were you a fan of Windows Vista?

I guess I am. I'm currently using it now and have no issues with it. Some stuff that I wonder why they have done it that way but it works none the less. Only thing I don't like about it is that you can't really customise it to the way you want, meaning the look of explorer. All the things that I have installed have worked. I sometimes get that blue screen everyone dreds but that was my own silly fault. So even if this Windows 8 comes out I will be still going to use either Windows Vista on my laptop and Windows 7 on my desktop.

I had problems in the early stages with crashing, lag etc. However, with the release of service packs the problems seemed to iron themselves out and it turned into a very usable OS.

Well on my desktop before Vista was installed about last several years ago.

Personally its likely my taste isn't working on that OS and all goes to XP and Windows 7.

I hated it with a passion

I was stuck with a 3G Dongle for a year and Vista, this is what it would do.

Install Vista > Install 3G Dongle > Use Vista all day > Shutdown > Boot in morning > No 3G Dongle connection > No RPC Service running > No way to create a new connection > Reinstall Vista

When 7 started leaking I reported the same bug in 7 as was in Vista and after 2 weeks of sending logs and files back and forth to MS and running programs for them, they fixed it, the next leak of 7 worked fine and I was a happy chappy

But during Vista use time I lost about 15 years of my life through stress Im sure

Boy do I know how you must have felt. I had similar issues using a 3G dongle on Vista. I put the problem down to a mix of poor software for the dongle and bad driver support within Vista. I would have to re-install the software every few days. I still shiver at the thought of it...

I used Windows Vista, and it was really stable, until I did Check Disk and it failed login. So I did a system restore, and that broke the whole OS. I had to change to 7, and I've hated Vista since then, but I used to really like it.

I've have not seen so many people have a thing for Vista. I've had no problem with it and it works perfectly fine for what I use it and all the problems that you guys have mentioned.
