What happened to Opera Neon (Concept Browser) from Blog post of Jan 2017?

I've heard nothing about this... Ever. Not a single word in my life until I read this thread.

It seems the downloads are active. Has anyone else here tried this? If so, how was it?

A very good question! Never tested it though as I been more then satisfied with the stable version. The Dev and Beta versions...

This neon version was only what they called a concept browser. The idea was to introduce these new visual features to their users to get as much feedback as possible on this. They said from the beginning that this browser was not going to be another standalone product next to the regular Opera browser.
They are now slowly implementing the things found in Neon into the normal Opera browser (like the social media sidebar for example), so don't expect updates on this neon browser soon.

I understand the idea behind a concept browser, but surely Opera would have updated it with some NEW experimental ideas for the future. No?

I still have it. Thought it was fast and looked great, but found some extra stuff annoying.
