Antivirus software read/write data to SSD in different ways, some update hourly, and some rely more on cloud scanning, some have scheduled scan daily, and some just scan new files. If I want to keep my SSD healthy, what is the lightest free antivirus software on SSD?

Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition is known for its light impact on system resources, including SSDs. It offers cloud-based scanning and real-time protection without being heavy on system resources.

Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition has the biggest data definitions update between all antivirus software?

While Bitdefender does have regular updates, it's designed to minimize the impact on system resources. However, if you're concerned about update size, you might consider Avira Free Antivirus. It's also lightweight and has smaller, more frequent updates.

Microsoft Security, much more optimized with the system than outsourced AV, here on my system it is the fastest, as a gamer, I prioritize performance, and it has been the best for me so far :)

You gotta go for the heavily cloud-based AVs. Webroot, McAfee and Trend. Of which McAfee and Trend are more recommended.

Is Avira Free Antivirus lighter than Microsoft Defender on resources, specially SSD?

I've always been told that Trend Micro is the best antivirus because of its hybrid cloud protection, because that makes it lighter than the others? Another question, is Trend Micro Japanese or American? And finally, I'm thinking of installing it on my other computer, will I be better protected than using Microsoft Defender or are they the same? Sorry for the questions, I don't have much knowledge and I'm here to learn from you

Trend Micro is not much lighter than others, but with a small definitions set, definitely lighter on disk.
It is dual-listed, both American and Japanese. As far as I know from support, development is in China and a lot of security research is done in India. The UX development is happening in their UK headquarters.

As to Defender vs Trend Micro, that is very difficult question to answer.

Trend Micro has always had the potential to be at the top of the market, but it seems to me that there is always something missing to get there, it's a great antivirus program, you install it and it takes care of your system.

Microsoft Defender and Trend Micro? Go with whichever is lighter on your system, test them both, but I think Trend Micro is a little more complete and experienced in combating digital threats.
