It’s my parents’ desktop and they seldom use it. As I can remember I reset the system (Win 10) on Sep 5, 2023 for this desktop, before that I installed Avast, but I think resetting should have deleted such files. After resetting I installed Kaspersky on it not Avast. I just notice this thing in Task Manager, as this process is running. What is this thing, should I worry about it for showing up from nowhere (or maybe not)?

"overseer.exe" is a legitimate file that's part of Avast antivirus software. It's possible that it wasn't completely removed when you reset the system. It's generally harmless, but if you're not using Avast anymore, you can safely remove it. If you're having trouble, you might want to use a dedicated uninstaller tool to ensure all Avast files are completely removed.

Is it better than using Revo or HiBit uninstallers?
My experience removing both Avast and Norton 24 recently is that very little is left behind if you are using Hibit, I didn't test with Revo. A quick manual search after may find some folders and a few loose files.

Avast is one of the few security software that didn't force me to use FARBAR to unregister it from Windows Security, for instance.
