What movie are you watching or planning to watch?

If you enjoy Korean series with a dark atmosphere, symbolic monsters, and a historical backdrop, Gyeongseong Creature is definitely worth watching. Across its two seasons it blends action and horror with reflections on greed and survival, although its narrative pace may not appeal to everyone. Still, the show stands out by portraying how monsters are born from human ambition in a context of occupation and suffering, giving it a powerful and distinctive foundation. 🐉 🕰️ 🎬

‘The Librarians’ documentary explores censorship, fight for freedom to read:

My Thoughts

Because I work in a public library.

I was emailed advanced knowledge of this documentary, The Librarians.

And I was informed when the screening for it was going to take place.

I was also told that it would be available on PBS shortly afterward.

So I decided to just wait until it was available on the YouTube channel PBS.

A recent Reddit post called, You Gotta Watch This Documentary, reminded me of this documentary.

So I finally watched it.

Thank you Chezmanny for reminding me that I still needed to watch this documentary.

I think that everyone should watch this documentary.

So that they have an idea of what is going, and how it can spread.

Things like this are going on at various levels.

Organized efforts to reshape the world the way that they want it.

With no care for balance, equality, peace, facts, reality, diversity, et cetera.

Which is dangerous.

As a person who was raised a Christian.

I have watched various people use their version of Christianity et cetera in a culture war.

That has gone on for decades now, so this is not new.

So all of this is not surprising for me.

Some of them want to force their beliefs on the rest of the world.

I have watched as they co-opt things for their own interests.

And spread negative versions of those things.

Trying to force it on others, when they can and / or allowed to.

It must be acknowledged so that we can do what we can to defend against things like this.

Otherwise, you will continue to let them win.

And at some point things will finally impact your life and people you know in a negative way.

It might be too late and / or too dangerous and / or to widespread et cetera by that point.

It is a shame watching a corrupted version of the religion that you grew up in being used for negative things instead of positive things.

As they combine it with various far right / conservative political, cultural / social / racial / racist / ethnocentric / et cetera, economic, militaristic, et cetera agendas / beliefs / et cetera.

The version of Christianity that I was raised in was more about following Jesus's example of: love, helping people, doing what is right, et cetera.

It was not perfect, but it was more positive overall in comparison to the other version of Christianity that is spreading.

@goodjohnjr, thank you so much for sharing this documentary. I’m not sure if I’ll have the chance to watch it or if I’ll be able to fully understand it since I don’t speak English, but your comments perfectly reflect my own thoughts. The freedom to read is a right that truly deserves to be defended, and works like this help us all realize what is at stake. 🏆

You are welcome, @Halp2001, and thank you. Wow! I did not know that, your English responses are good. Because that documentary is on YouTube, it does have subtitles, and perhaps they will auto dub it too one day.

What Is It?

The 1998 Japanese anime (animated) television show Outlaw Star.

Outlaw Star – The Complete Series – Coming Soon:

Outlaw Star – Blu-ray Trailer:

Anime Abandon: Outlaw Star:

My Thoughts

To me, Outlaw Star seems like a warm-up to Cowboy Bebop.

Cowboy Bebop is better than Outlaw Star.

You can see how both television shows have some things in common.

I wish that a certain character was not killed off early in the show.

I think that it would have been better if that character had lived.

This show is alright, but I did not like it as much as some people.

But I do still think that it is a classic in this genre that is worth seeing.

I do think that the beginning credits theme song is catchy.

Outlaw Star – Official Clip – Opening Theme:

I did like the ending credits songs and visuals, especially the first ending theme song.

Outlaw Star – Official Clip – 1st Ending Theme:

These elements cause me to get a hard to describe feeling.

I almost remember something from my childhood, but I can never really remember exactly what it reminds me of.

@goodjohnjr, thank you so much again! I finally watched the documentary and found it fascinating. I was struck by how it shows that "dark side" of politics when they try to unjustifiably censor reading—something that opens the mind, liberates from oppression, and stimulates individual development for all ages.

I also found the librarians' fight against such strong political and economic powers with dark interests to be very brave. I watched it on YouTube using a VPN since it wasn't available in my country, and among the comments, I found a quote that I really liked for its brevity and depth: “It says a lot about someone when their biggest fear is that young people have access to knowledge.” It perfectly sums up the entire conflict.

By the way, my native language is Spanish, but I’m glad technology allows us to share such important impressions. Thank you again for the recommendation; it was a very valuable contribution! 📚🛡️✨

for some reason I can't make up my mind about going to IMAX for "Project Hail Mary" ... (serious sci-fi or silly...?? can't tell from reviews). "A science teacher wakes up alone on a spaceship. As his memory returns, he uncovers a mission to stop a mysterious substance killing Earth's sun and that an unexpected friendship may be the key." Gets a 95% at Rotten Tomatoes. is it mentioned in this thread, maybe I missed it...? But a metascore of 77 is lower than I would expect for big box office with 95% RT

Metascore doesn’t treat every review the same. Big-name publications get more weight, while smaller outlets count for less. The exact formula is proprietary and kept secret, which makes the final score feel a bit mysterious.

That said, it may be a great movie, I haven't seen it yet, but I probably will in the next few weeks. It’s sitting at 8.4 on IMDB and has a 95%+ rating on RT from both critics and audiences, numbers that usually line up pretty well with whether I’ll end up loving a movie.

And honestly, the hype makes sense. Andy Weir’s novel Project Hail Mary is one of the best pieces of fiction I’ve ever read, better than The Martian. If the film captures half of what made the book so brilliant, it’s going to be unforgettable.

I think @jackuars has already explained very well the difference between the ratings. If you enjoy serious science fiction, the novel on which this movie is based is highly regarded, so it’s probably worth experiencing it in IMAX.Beyond its literary foundation, the film also feels like a tribute to friendship in unlikely places and among improbable characters. That human dimension is beautifully reinforced by the soundtrack, which fits each moment perfectly, culminating with “Gracias a la vida” (Thanks to Life). Even though it’s in Spanish, the song conveys a universal message that anyone can feel, whether or not it appears translated in the movie’s subtitles. 🚀 📽️ 🌌

You're welcome, @simmerskool! I hope you enjoy it. From my perspective, it has an atmosphere that reminds me a bit of Interstellar and Arrival, though in a different context. I’d love to hear your thoughts after you see it; it’ll help me understand your movie preferences better. Enjoy the IMAX experience! 🚀🎬

You are welcome and thank you @Halp2001, I am glad that you got to see it. :)

I am surprised and disappointed that YouTube limited the documentary to only certain countries, so you had to use a VPN.

I am glad that you had a VPN.

What Is It?

The 2023 Japanese mystery science fiction adventure anime (animated) TV show Heavenly Delusion Season 1.

Tengoku Daimakyo | Official Trailer | Disney+ Singapore:

Heavenly Delusion Is Your New Favorite Anime.:

My Thoughts

I found out about this anime thanks to a YouTube video called:

Spring Anime 2023 In A Nutshell by the YouTube channel Gigguk:

I started watching it thanks to my brother GC recommending it several times.

This show is a mystery science fiction adventure. It likes to drag out the mystery. However, it is unique.

I think that it is pretty good. It has a surprising twist. However, I just wish they had not dragged out the mystery.

They could have finished this show in one season if they had not done that.

I think that this could have been a one season TV show, in my opinion,

I still think that it is worth watching, and I would probably rate it a 3.5 out of 5.
