What will fit best on windows 8.1. I would also like to know why do you favor a security suite over another.. Thank you!

Hard to pick between the two, but if I only had one choice it would be Eset with "tweaked settings",it's light and very effective!!

I am currently using Qihu360 +Comodo FW (which is a superb combo!).:)

Its really hard to me to decide between ESET and Emsisoft (I tried and used them both). they are both really good and have good detection. but because I have to choose one I will choose emsisoft because emsisoft is better in detection (in my opinion) and it has more user-friendly interface and I think that emsisoft is lighter in system resource....

I selected "others".
How about Sandboxie working synergistically with HitMan Pro to where HitMan Pro scans everything you want to release out of the sandbox just before it is "downloaded to same location". Wilder's Security has some steps on how to make this happen, but I have yet to implement.
I would feel safe with that.

Eset Smart Security,I have been running it on Windows 8 since its release and now 8.1.I use EIS on Windows 7.OA was a little buggy a on Windows 8 and I have not tried it again since then because ESS has run great without bugs or conflict. That doesnt mean there are others that run just as well and provide just as good protection.I would say trying Windows 8.1 built in security with UAC & smartscreen and add SBIE to it.Try them out and see which is the best fit for your system. They are all good and CIS is free and others offer at least 30 day trials so your never without protection.

First, compare the security & features between Windows XP SP2 and Windows 8.1. You'll see most suites are built around to protect Windows XP computers. A few vendors have released specialised software for Windows 8 only, ie. Bitdefender.

So looking at Windows 8.x, it's a lot better than Windows XP, I've chosen Other because I don't believe one requires a Suite to be "better protected" on Windows 8.1.

Out of the box, it comes with Windows Defender (Antispyware+Antivirus) with an option to allow WD to upload suspicious files, Windows SmartScreen (once seen only in IE in Windows 7 and below), Windows Firewall with Advanced Security (highly configurable, without a performance drop), User Access Control that helps prevent unknown changes to the OS. And finally, Windows Updates to help keep Windows secure and updated, WD also uses this to update it's definitions. Those are the basic, but there are other enhancements you can look up online.

This is solely my opinion on the matter, so feel free to use any program you wish.

Earlier just 25 days back i was using Bitdefender IS, I faced some problems with it, then i surveyed all the internet for its problem, then i got advise from MT members to try ESET , Guess what i am using it from 25 days still now no problem and very light as experts said in this forum! S o i'm planning to stick with ESET!
