Which To Use? "Dual Booting with Win 10" Tails or Ubuntu

You're going to want to stay away from the Tails/Tor combo if you're just going to be using it for general browsing. After the Snowden disclosures I tried using them exclusively for all my computing activity and it was a miserable experience. I gave up in just over a month.

Ubuntu's definitely the way to go. Sadly I have very little experience with the OS so I can't help you with any of the details.

How does Ubuntu work in keeping your browsing private?
Define "private". You already stated a preference to avoid Tor Browser, so your objective is unclear. Ubuntu isn't going to give you any real privacy improvement over Win10, so I'm not sure what you're going for. If you're just trying to keep your hard drive clean, then run any Linux distro from a liveCD. Or maybe consider a reliable VPN.

I don't want browsers/OS to give me reccomendations based on my search preferences. In general don't want them to know anything at all. At least for the most part anyway. :P

Is it because it's slow?

I'm thinking of using TAILS with TOR on a USB stick. Can boot up and run Ubuntu on a USB stick?

There's no point in using Tails on the same hardware as your Windows. Now the two share the same hardware IDs and can easily be linked. Tails is something that should be run on a foreign/secondard laptop.
But you are booting TAILS from a USB stick so when shut down nothing will be traceable to you

Hey guys! In terms of stability, usability, and security which would you choose? I am interesting in browsing the internet with more privacy in mind but I wish to do semi heavy tasks such as downloading things and streaming Youtube videos. :)

Tails: Tails - Release notes
Ubuntu: Releases - Ubuntu Wiki
Try this

Have Qubes OS + Whonix + TOR

Super secure with great privacy and anonymity :D

allow me to be blunt, anything on youtube aint illegal so need not worry there. if you are getting torrents or porn you still need not go tails.

if you are worried about private browsing get opera portable on a ufd, all history stays on the ufd.

In general don't want them to know anything at all.

they will know. you can only lessen the amount they know by using additional privacy / security measures.

the best advice given to you :

dual boot with windows 10 nullifies the whole idea of using tails.

Tails also derives security from being amnesiac. You could set a persistent area, but that completely defeats the purpose. And I'm not sure you want to live without bookmarks, entering logins every time etc. It's a quite tedious processs that I'd only recommend if you're confronted with a concrete threat.

Ubuntu is a good choice as far as documentation and stability go, but that applies to many other distributions as well.

Hence, I'd rather go for something like Linux Mint. Based on Ubuntu and very stable. I've also had a great experience with Solus.

Incredibly slow. Both Tails and Tor's performance and usability have improved since then but I still wouldn't use it for general browsing.
I keep Tails on a USB stick and only fire it up when I want to search for something I'd rather keep from the state's prying eyes.
