I agree with you, simple is actually better sometimes... SOPHOS provide quality products though so it's no surprise you like it. I read their blog multiple times a week, there's always some interesting content there.
Have you heard about the new SOPHOS premium AV? (or named pro, something like that). I believe it has HitmanPro.Alert technology implemented into it now, for home users.
