There used to be some keys on newegg but I've since gone back to check and they are "sold out". Best way is still to head to the official MS store I guess!

From a legal perspective yeah its illegal, but if you really don't have the money, buying from ebay alot safer than use illegal activatior / patch
With working key either from Authorized dealers or ebay you don't have to worried malware/virus that might came from pirate activator.

One thing to remember is that even if you receive a working key from a ebay seller, this doesn't necessarily make them "legit". It's a bit like claiming that winning at Russian Roulette makes it a "safe game". When working with these seller there's always the chance of getting a bad key, or having someday later revoked from your account. And for many people it's a hard lesson learned.
