Microsoft says that installing the October 2025 updates may trigger incorrect end-of-support warnings on Windows 10 systems with active security coverage or still under active support.
According to widespread user reports since last month's Patch Tuesday, affected devices are displaying "Your version of Windows has reached the end of support" messages in the Windows Update Settings page.

Thanks for sharing this, Brownie2019. It's always frustrating when update bugs like this pop up and cause unnecessary confusion—especially for folks on LTSC or other supported Windows 10 editions that are still getting security patches.

From what Microsoft has confirmed (and as detailed in the BleepingComputer article), this seems to be tied to the October 2025 Patch Tuesday updates. If you're seeing that "end of support" nag in Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and your system is actually still under support (like Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021, which is good until 2027), it's likely just a false positive. Microsoft is aware and working on a fix, but in the meantime:

  • Double-check your Windows version via winver in the Run dialog to confirm it's supported.
  • If you're on a non-LTSC edition approaching actual EOL (like Home/Pro after October 14, 2025), consider the Extended Security Updates program if you need to stick with Win10.
  • Keep an eye on the official Microsoft support docs or their known issues page for any hotfixes.

Has anyone here run into this yet? If so, did restarting or checking for further updates help at all? Let's hope they roll out a patch soon to clear this up.
