Even though Microsoft struggles to convince everyone that Windows 8 is at least worth a try, Windows 7 remains the number one choice for computer users.
Data provided by Net Applications for December indicate that Windows 7 remains the most popular operating system in the world, with a share of 45.11 percent.
Windows XP, the 11-year-old OS that Microsoft struggles to kill in order to move customers to newer software, was the second choice last month, as it recorded a market share of 30.08 percent.
Windows Vista, Microsoft’s very own disaster, came third with 5.67 percent, followed by Mac OS X 10.8 with 2.27 percent.
As for Windows 8, the company’s newest operating system is far, far away with a share of only 1.72 percent, while Windows RT accounted for 0.05 percent of the market.
