better update your device drivers before installing Windows 8.1 update 1 to avoid blue screen crash.

You will have to manually find newest driver for network interface cards for Windows 8.1

I've read on some hardware manufacturers site recommending users to uninstall their current drivers, prior to upgrading. And then, installing the drivers. Not the other way around?

I will update through Windows Update. :)

I have a question: does windows update know if my computer is fit for the update? or does it offer the update regardless if the pc is fit or not?
I'm afraid of the possible incompatibility of drivers you're talking about.

They have a little software called Upgrade Assistant which will help you decide by scanning your programs and showing if they are compatible or not. :) Not sure if it analyses drivers though.

thanks, meteotis... i think drivers' compatibility is dependent on the manufacturers. I just hope that all will be well... :D

The last one listed, cannot be found on the server. The other ones can be normally downloaded.
I checked hashes for 4 of 6 that I have downloaded at the time, compared with those of those files published a month ago and they are the same.

I have Update 1 installed on my desktop since then and there is no problem with any driver or software.

@Nikos751 After you installed Update 1, did the default MS Windows Store apps re-appear on the Start Screen (ie. Travel, News, Sport, Mail, People, Calendar etc.)?

I think not, they remained as I had set them before. Not 100% sure though.

Update: They are the same files, so it's normal to be the same. They simply made them available again, except from the last one.

@Nikos751: Are you sure that Microsoft will not make any changes to the update at the eleventh hour? May be, that's why, they have taken off the last update from their servers.

I don't say there won't be any changes, I just said the files are the same, currently :)

I watched the short-version of the Keynote and it said available for Windows 8 and 8.1 users. Does that mean users could be running Windows 8 Update 1 and others running Windows 8.1 Update 1?
