'I’m not one for complaining. I buy my software, I use my software and when an upgrade becomes available, I upgrade my software. I’ve always been a Windows user because I like the simplicity and beauty of it. I kept quiet through all the changed Microsoft made to Windows even if something irritated me a little, but the bold last move of this software giant is just not something I can be silent about. In Windows 8 Microsoft removed the Start Menu and replaced it with a new Start Screen. The Start Screen is not the problem, I do understand that the future is all about tablets and handheld devices, but I’m still working on a normal little Desktop.

If I wanted to do all my office work on a tablet, I would have gone and bought myself a new iPad (which I still might do, if I’m forced to choose between a Windows tablet and an iPad). Why can’t we just leave the tablet market to Apple and the PC market to Microsoft? Don’t get me wrong, I like Windows 8 in general, but what happened to freedom of speech and choices. In Windows XP we had the choice to switch back to the Classic Start Menu and in Windows 7 we have XP Mode. It looks like in Windows 8, the only choices we have are to tablet or not to tablet.'

'The main issue here is not the new interface, but the fact that the fundamental choices we as humans have are being taken away here.'

'Because of this, Rizonesoft started a petition to ask Microsoft to bring back the Start Menu or at least give us a choice in the matter. One setting that will allow you to turn the Start Menu on. It can’t be that difficult. Please go to the link below and share, sign and spread this petition. Let’s see if we can make a difference.'

Personally, I don't mind. ViStart and Start 8 exists and I like the Start Screen, a lot.

Well people who use Windows from now made life easier because of simplicity and "Start Menu" is included as anything to find is already there. It gives also the appearance of the OS itself.

I personally have no problem with no start orb, If they decide to bring back the start orb, I wouldn't have an issue either. I'm happy either way. :p

No start orb? No problem, I'm more of a keyboard user since 2008, since getting my first laptop.

Now I understand why some say the mouse (hardware) might go extinct from PCs. Anyone for Touch and Keyboard?

Also..

Microsoft copy Apple
Apple copy Microsoft

Make Your Own Windows 8 Start Button with Zero Memory Usage on HowToGeek.com : http://www.howtogeek.com/108838/make-your-own-windows-8-start-button-with-zero-memory-usage/

'After using Windows 8 for a while, I’ve come to the conclusion that removing the Start button from the Taskbar was a huge mistake. Here’s how to make your own “Start” button that brings up the Metro Start screen—but doesn’t waste any memory at all.

What we’ll be doing is pretty simple—create a script that simulates pressing the Windows key button, make it into an executable, assign an icon, and pin it to the taskbar so that it sorta looks like the Start button, and works the same way. Since nothing is running, no RAM is wasted.' ..
