Windows-9-Build-6-4-9830-Ready-as-the-Public-Beta-Is-Almost-Here-457714-2.jpg

Work on Windows 9 continues these days, as we’re getting insanely close to the public launch of the very first beta of what could be another major revamp of our beloved operating system.

It appears that Microsoft has recently completed development of another Windows 9 build, as version number 6.4.9830 has been spotted online, most likely as the company was test-driving its features.

No specifics are available at this point, but we already know that a public beta is expected to be released later this month for anyone willing to give it a try and help Microsoft improve the final product.

“Why are these builds numbers so important?” you might ask. The reason is as simple as it could be: with Microsoft fueling the secrecy surrounding Windows 9 on pretty much every single day when it refuses to disclose details about the upcoming operating system, there’s no doubt that people are trying to keep an eye on everything related to this project.

This new build is living proof that development of the new Windows 9 advances and a public beta is quickly coming, with people close to the matter indicating that Microsoft is preparing an event on September 30 to present plans for the new operating system.

Since Microsoft completes development of new Windows 9 builds on a regular basis and the company has already submitted new testing versions to partners, it’s only natural to expect leaks to reach the web in the coming days, but as far we can tell, such a thing is very unlikely to happen.

Microsoft has implemented new security measures to make sure that Windows 9 leaks are impossible, but in case partner builds indeed reach the web, it should be very easy for the company to determine the original owner.

Needless to say, Microsoft does not want any Windows 9 leaks to be released online before the public unveiling, and since Alex Kibkalo’s arrest, the amount of information on new Windows projects has been reduced dramatically.

And still, we do know that Windows 9 will be released in stable form in April 2015, with Microsoft planning to introduce new features to the testing build using a new internal update mechanism that would not require fresh installations.

The feature lineup is expected to include options such as a Start menu, a desktop version of Cortana, options to run Metro apps on the desktop, Internet Explorer 12, a revised Modern UI, and many other improvements.

More information will be disclosed later this month by Microsoft itself, while download links for the public beta should be disclosed either in late September or in early October.

not bad for windows 7 alternative
it must have a better security too
Yes, guaranteed. It will have built-in Antivirus and Anti-spyware protection, and Smartscreen will be system-wide. Of course you should be aware it's built up from Windows 8. Not saying you live under a rock. :D

I haven't high hopes for Windows 9.

Windows 9 Preview will be released for download later this month, but the very first screenshots showing the upcoming build in action are already here.

As you can see for yourselves by browsing the screenshots in the gallery, the preview build of Windows 9 indeed includes many of the rumored features, among which a notification center and multiple desktops.

German site computerbase.de has published the screenshots earlier today, claiming that they are part of Windows 9 Technical Preview build 9834.

While nobody can confirm whether they’re real or not, chances are that they do show the upcoming OS build, as Microsoft is said to be giving the final touches to the testing version.

Start menu and multiple desktops

Even though it was rumored that Windows 9 Preview might not come with a Start menu, it appears that it’s already there in build number 9834, featuring a design that’s very similar to what the company itself presented at the BUILD 2014 conference in April.

The Start menu mixes the classic Windows 7 design with modern elements such as live tiles, thus helping users adapt faster to the new operating system, no matter if they like Windows 8 or Windows 7 more.

At the same time, the leaked screenshots also show the new multiple desktops in action, with a switcher at the bottom of the screen allowing users to jump from one desktop to another.

Chances are that some keyboard shortcuts or possible mouse gestures could be also be implemented, but it remains to be seen whether the full functionality will be available in the Preview or not.

The notification center is also available in the testing build, playing the same role as in Windows Phone 8.1 and promising to keep users up to date with what’s happening on their computers.

More features to be added at a later time

Windows 9 Preview will launch at the end of the month, but at this point it’s not yet clear whether the company is planning to make all the new features that you can see in these screenshots available to all users or whether they could be released at a later time.

Word is that the company will, however, introduce new options as it completes their development, with a new update system implemented in Windows 9 to help deliver fresh features to users.

At the same time, it appears that Microsoft is working to create user subsets depending on the feedback they send and deliver features only to specific customers, in order to make Windows address their needs better.

Keep in mind that although they might seem real, nobody can guarantee that these screenshots are not fake. As usual, Microsoft doesn’t want to comment on such reports, so consider yourselves warned.
