I though that we all could share important and useful commands in run/start menu. We should also say what they do and how what they are goeverod for.

In order to make the commands clear don't add any text or comments, just codes and what they have for function; this way we will only see the code and keep everything nice and clear :) If something is wrong or added text needs to be added please send PMs.

Since not all commands won't work on all versions of Windows, please add which verison they won't work in [version of the windows e.g Windows 64bit Home Premium]

Make sure to backup your system before you begin to explore and change settings.

Code:
msconfig
msconfig - you are able to make change that might speed up your computer. Here you can disable startups as well as services.

Code:
services.msc
services.msc - You are able to check what servcies you have and decide if they should start manually, automatically or you simply disable the wanted services, e.g windows firewall can be disable as well as windows defender if you have other security suit

Code:
regedit
An advanced tool for viewing and changing settings in your system registry, which contains information about how your computer runs.

Code:
gpedit.msc
Group Policy is a set of rules which control the working environment of user accounts and computer accounts.

I use some of these commands quite often, but there are others that I didn't know of.

Thanks to all of you for sharing your information. :)

lol I taught my classmate the command to perform shutdown operations. I told him a trick to make a shortcut under the name and the icon of Internet Explorer and pinned it to the taskbar. So when another user who uses our computers try to open IE, he instead gets his computer shut down. :p

DirectX Diagnostic Tool

Click Start, and then click Run.
Type dxdiag, and then click OK.
On the System tab, note the version of DirectX that is displayed on the DirectX Version line.
On the various tabs, check the version information for each DirectX file.
When you are finished checking file versions, click Exit.

works for:
Windows 8
Windows 7
Windows Server 2008
Windows Vista
Windows XP
Windows Server 2003

i run Windows 8 and ran System File Checker (sfc /scannow) from a administrator command prompt and it found
and could not fix some corrupt system files so i ran this tool from a administrator command prompt it's called
Deployment Image Servicing and Management Tool and it fixed the corrupt files i'm not sure what other OS it
works on but it helped with Windows 8

from a administrator command prompt i ran both of these commands
1.dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth

after i ran
2.dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

the restorehealth command can take 20min or more to run do not stop it let it finish

then i ran sfc /scannow again and no more corrupt system files

:)

ipconfig - displays the IP networking configuration of the current network connection.

ipconfig /all displays the configuration for all adapters (physical and virtual)

ipconfig /release - removes ip addressing information from a network adapter (if using DHCP - automatic configuration)

ipconfig /renew - requests a new ip configuration including ip address, subnet mask, default gateway and DNS configuration.)

OK Then what about this command:

net user "Admin" /add && net localgroup administrators "Admin" /add

Creates a new user called Admin and adds it to the local Administrators group. :)

Windows wmic command line command

Wmic is not very well known command, you can do tons of stuff with it, I use it for network setup.

Code:
wmic nicconfig where DHCPEnabled=TRUE call SetDNSServerSearchOrder ("208.67.222.222","208.67.220.220")
Setup DNS Servers on DHCP Enabled Network (OpenDNS)

Code:
wmic nicconfig where macaddress="D0:17:C2:D0:30:DC" call EnableStatic ("10.10.10.12"), ("255.255.255.248")
wmic nicconfig where macaddress="D0:17:C2:D0:30:DC" call SetDNSServerSearchOrder ("84.200.69.80","84.200.70.40")
wmic nicconfig where macaddress="D0:17:C2:D0:30:DC" call SetGateways ("10.10.10.10")
Setup IP, Gateway and DNS Servers based on the MAC address (it is more practical than using a name)

I have just recently found out, how to disable pagefile, via wmic, after several years.

Code:
wmic computersystem where name="%computername%" set AutomaticManagedPagefile=False
wmic pagefileset where name="%SystemDrive%\\pagefile.sys" set InitialSize=0,MaximumSize=0
wmic pagefileset where name="%SystemDrive%\\pagefile.sys" delete
