Windows vs Linux-market shares

Statistics recently provided the two most popular companies in the world analysis shows that the battle between Windows and Linux continues, the results confirmed that the open-source platform becomes a choice increasingly popular among desktop computer users worldwide.

June 2014 monthly statistics provided by StatCounter and Net Applications were made to see how Linux could challenge the dominance of Microsoft's operating system.

StatCounter says that in June, Windows conducted without any emotion charts, with a market share beating clearly the most accomplished of Linux - 88.96%. That means that almost 9 out of 10 PCs using the Windows operating system in last month. Linux, on the other hand, come to a market share of only 1.37% but a clear increase of its outputs in each month. Windows 7 is the number one in almost every country on the globe, holding a market share of 55.02% worldwide, followed by Windows XP - 16.29%, Windows 8 - Windows 7.57% and 8.1 - 6.7% .

Net Applications shows that Windows has a market share of 91.53%, which, obviously, the figure is higher than the estimate firm StatCounter, confirming once again the domination of the desktop. Linux is in third place with 1.74%.

When it comes to versions, Windows 7 is once again number one with 50.55%, followed by Windows XP with 25.31%, with 6.61% Windows 8.1 and Windows 8, with 5.93%. Compared with the same month of the previous year, Linux has grown from 1.62% to 1.74% and is expected to continue to rise in the coming months.

Windows is the main option for desktop computers in the world, but there is no doubt that more and more users are discovering the world of open source and decide to give him more chances. Windows XP, for instance, are still looking for a new operating system that runs smoothly on older hardware, but as an upgrade to another version of Windows involves quite a lot of hardware investment, it seems that Linux is obviously the perfect option.

It is no secret that many XP users have recently decided to see what this Linux, especially since even the open-source developers have tried to take advantage of this by releasing distributions based on appearance familiar Windows XP.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether Linux can ever stop the dominance of Windows on the desktop market, but it is quite clear that in recent years increasingly more users are finally willing to try a non-Windows platform.

good assessment; you should also show the overdomination of Linux on Super-computers , not saying that Linux is everywhere in he industry and in your daily electronic devices.

btw, you should add "market shares" in the title ;)
