I guess gnome is not considered lightweight but I think my gnome 47 desktop is minimalistic, I've come to prefer it over xfce4

For me personally, after trying almost every famous desktop environment, I prefer GTK+ desktops over Qt in general, and from GTK+ i will choose Gnome desktop if my laptop can handle it, if not I will go with XFCE.

I don't like xfce, feels a bit too light and fast, as compared to Ubuntu's gnome. Probably because there is no animation effects.
