They are still making phones? OnePlus exiting majority of world markets due to high memory prices. I heard rumors that xiaomi might follow. I was actually on a marker for OnePlus phone; might get a OnePlus tablet instead maybe a used one.Since i was in Malaysia, i bought myself a new phone.

Weird comment, since you can use google and see they releasing alot of phones all over the world. I also mentioned i bought it in Malaysia, and its very popular there, same like Oppo. They are still making phones? OnePlus exiting majority of world markets due to high memory prices. My advice don't. Security comes last with CN phones & tablets and updates lag behind. Hardware wise CN phones/tablets are superb but after all we are on a security forum! They are still making phones? Xiaomi has 5 years OS updates and 6 years security updates, at least with my 17T.My advice don't. Security comes last with CN phones & tablets and updates lag behind. Hardware wise CN phones/tablets are superb but after all we are on a security forum!
TuxTux great phone and hardware specs, congrats! & Oppo phones are very popular in Asia because they are cheap as chips where income is lower.
Sorry, I just included that comment for those who are looking into purchasing the device that might be outside of the Malasia market....who knows what will change in 2 months as the ram prices are going up. Case in point, I surendipously built a new AMD system back in APril 2025, I was able to get 96 GB of DDR-5 8000 ram for $230 off newegg, currently the same price is $1400. Honestly I should have bought ram and not bitcoin since the retrun on ivestment is astonomicall.Weird comment, since you can use google and see they releasing alot of phones all over the world. Honestly I feel you.Xiaomi has 5 years OS updates and 6 years security updates, at least with my 17T.
I trust CN phones more than those Trump phones now a days.
My primary objective for this device is to root it to serve as a dedicated media and gaming console, particularly for in-flight entertainment where personal devices are increasingly utilized as the primary screen. I am replacing an aging Samsung S6 tablet. My advice don't. Security comes last with CN phones & tablets and updates lag behind. I recently purchased a used OnePlus Pad (12GB RAM / 256GB storage) on eBay for $199. Given the low price and aftermarket source, there is a minor risk the device may arrive inoperable, and I will update you on its functionality upon arrival. To mitigate security risks, the tablet will not hold any sensitive data and will be associated exclusively with a secondary, non-critical email account. It is intended strictly as a high-performance, low-cost platform for experimentation.
For comparison, Costco currently offers an entry-level Samsung S9 tablet for $220 with only 8GB of RAM. Consequently, the 12GB OnePlus model—despite being an older release—represents a more cost-effective and powerful solution for this specific use case.
I live in Europe. Our second home is in Malaysia. My recommendation is to employ the phone that is targeted for your piece of the globe. Since I am in the US then US knows everything about me; I came to terms with that fact. As such I am limiting my exposure to US based tech; no need to saw my oats all over the world. However, if I were an Asian resident I would use Asian based tech, it just makes sense (to me).

What do you mean by bad security?LOL OKAY. Weird world view you have but alas I'm not one to criticize or get into politics. From experience CN phones have great hardware but bad security.maybe it's changed?
Slow patching, vulnerable preinstalled apps, preinstalled government root certs, government controlled app stores, co=operation with government hackers. I can go on?What do you mean by bad security?
Well better stop because on Xiaomi/Oppo these subjects you mention are not installed. Dunno how long it has been since you ever had these phones in your hands ?Slow patching, vulnerable preinstalled apps, preinstalled government root certs, government controlled app stores, co=operation with government hackers. I can go on?
