YouTube Red, the ad-free subscription service to the video portal, is available now in Australia and New Zealand, the Sydney Morning Herald reports. It launched first in the US last October.
The service costs AUD 11.99 per month, including access to YouTube Originals and the ability to keep videos playing in the background on mobile devices and saving videos for offline playback. As an introductory offer until 06 Jun, YouTube Red will cost AUD 9.99, and all users can sign up for a free first month.
YouTube Red members will get automatic premium access to Google Play Music, and existing Play subscribers will get YouTube Red at no extra cost. In addition, YouTube introduced its YouTube Music app in Australia, which allows users to set up customised music feeds, see music recommendations and save and share tracks they like.
