How to remove OneSave (Virus Removal Guide)

OneSave is a Windows backup utility that is typically distributed in a co-bundled offer situation using download managers. The software will add an icon to the user’s desktop as well as periodically popup a window to alert the user to run a backup and purchase the software.

While running, OneSave will also display numerous nag screens that are designed to convince you to purchase a license. These nag screens will appear from the Windows taskbar and will be shown over any application you may be running. These screens will contain alerts that you haven’t backed up today, that you must purchase a license to backup more than 50 files, or 20% discount offers. Examples of some of the nag screens are shown below.

It is important to note that even though some may find this program to be misleading and annoying, OneSave it is not an actual computer infection. These types of programs are typically harmless, or even beneficial to your computer, but are installed in a questionable manner or have a very loose privacy policy or end user license agreement (EULA).

OneSave adds a background controller service that is set to automatically run. A scheduled task is added to Windows Task Scheduler in order to launch the program at various scheduled times (the schedule varies depending on the version). The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with.

You should always pay attention when installing software because often, a software installer includes optional installs, such as this OneSave adware. Be very careful what you agree to install.
Always opt for the custom installation and deselect anything that is not familiar, especially optional software that you never wanted to download and install in the first place.
It goes without saying that you should not install software that you don’t trust.
