What it means
For some sensitive site requests, Chrome offers Allow this time, Allow while visiting the site or Never allow. A one-time grant supports the current visit and prompts again later. A persistent grant allows use on later visits within the browser's rules. The choice is per website origin and feature, such as camera or microphone; it does not confer trust on another domain or a desktop application.
A real-world example
A support technician asks a customer to enable microphone access for a one-off web call. The customer chooses Allow this time, completes the call, and Chrome asks again at the next visit rather than keeping a standing exception.
What to do
Check the address bar before granting a sensor. Prefer a one-time permission for rare use, then review Camera and Microphone under Settings, Privacy and security, Site settings to remove old exceptions.
The distinction that matters
Allow while visiting does not mean a site can record through Chrome while it is not active in the way Chrome documents. Operating-system permissions and a meeting app's controls are separate layers. A persistent site exception is still unnecessary once a project ends. Never grant a sensor to a lookalike domain because a legitimate meeting provider uses a similar brand name.
