What it means
Signing out of Edge ends its account sync relationship on that profile. Removing the local profile deletes the profile from the computer, including local browsing state according to the confirmation shown. Microsoft also warns that clearing data while signed in and syncing can remove that data across synced devices. These actions must be sequenced carefully on a shared computer.
A real-world example
Someone signs out of Edge on an office PC but leaves the local profile selectable. A coworker opens that profile and sees saved bookmarks and perhaps site sessions. Sign-out did not perform the intended local cleanup.
What to do
Confirm important data exists on another device, review Sync, sign out or stop sync, then remove the correct local profile through Profile settings. Reopen Edge to verify the personal profile is gone. Inspect downloaded files and website sessions separately.
The distinction that matters
Deleting the profile is not the same as deleting the Microsoft account, wiping Windows or revoking all website sessions. Downloaded files can remain elsewhere on the disk. Clearing synced data prematurely can propagate deletions, so read each prompt carefully. On a device you do not own, do not delete someone else's profile while cleaning up your own.
