What it means
A Page action button is a persistent control near the Page header that may direct a visitor to a website, call or other action. A link in a post is part of a particular piece of content. Changing one does not edit the other. A compromised Page can use either to exploit visitor trust, so a clean recent post is not evidence that the persistent button is safe.
A real-world example
After a scam post is deleted, a customer still clicks the Page's 'Contact us' button and reaches the attacker's lookalike site. The post and button were separate settings, and only one was corrected.
What to do
View the Page as an ordinary visitor, inspect the button and its destination, then review pinned and recent posts for related links. An authorized Page manager can edit or remove the action button. Test the corrected path on mobile and desktop.
The distinction that matters
The Page button may be managed through Facebook access while a collaborator has only task access. A link can also redirect after leaving Facebook, so verify the final destination and the business website. Neither fix retracts URLs already shared in private messages or ads. Preserve an incident record of each old destination.
