What it means
Family Sharing can make a person's live location visible to family members in Find My, Messages and Maps. Find My can also help locate a missing device. Turning off automatic sharing or stopping one person's access changes an audience; turning off the master Share My Location or Find My entirely has broader effects. These controls are related but they are not interchangeable, and a change may be noticed by someone who expects to see a location.
A real-world example
After moving out, a person disables automatic family location sharing but an old friend remains in Find My People. The family control was real, yet it did not revoke that separate friend relationship.
What to do
Review Settings, Family, Location Sharing and Find My, People. Remove only unwanted recipients, then check the device used as your location. If a signed-in stranger has account access, secure the Apple Account and trusted devices separately.
The distinction that matters
Location Services for maps and emergency use is not the same as sharing your location with family. Stopping sharing cannot erase places someone previously saw or screenshots they saved. A different app may still know your location under its own permissions.
