Losing your phone or changing a number can block Google sign-in. Third-party services promising guaranteed recovery are a common trap: they cannot verify ownership for Google, and giving them codes may make the situation worse.
Before you start
Identify the exact Google Account address. Gather a device and location where you previously signed in, plus any recovery email, phone or unused backup code you still control.Do it step by step
- Open Google's account recovery flow directly from the normal sign-in page, not from a search advertisement or a message sent by someone claiming to be support.
- Answer the questions as accurately as you can. Use a familiar device, browser and location where possible; changing devices for every attempt can make recognition harder.
- Choose Try another way for a method you no longer have. Use an existing backup code, trusted passkey or recovery route only when Google offers it in the official flow.
- Check the recovery email account for messages and secure that account as well. Never tell a caller the code or paste it into a different website.
- When access returns, review signed-in devices and recovery information. Replace obsolete phone numbers, add a second sign-in method and save new backup codes outside the phone.
