Remove your address or phone number from Google Search results

An old directory page can expose a home address, phone number or email in Google Search. Google's Results about you can identify matching results and accept eligible removal requests. This changes discovery through Google Search; it does not erase the source page or every copy on the internet.

Before you start

Record the exact search result URL and the information exposed. Decide whether you are comfortable providing those details to Google's monitoring feature; a direct removal form is another route for some requests.

Do it step by step

  1. Open Results about you from the Google app profile menu or the official web route. Sign in to the account that should manage your request.
  2. Enter the name and contact details to monitor if using the feature. Review any matches rather than assuming every same-name result belongs to you.
  3. Open the relevant result in the To review list and select Request to remove when the option appears. Keep a record of the requested URL and the reason.
  4. Check Removal requests for its decision. If the result is ineligible or denied, read the stated reason and consider the more detailed request form where appropriate.
  5. Contact the original website owner separately when safe and practical. Ask them to remove or correct the source page; search removal alone leaves that page accessible directly.

Check the result

After approval, search the exact name and detail again using a fresh browser session and check the request status. Also open the source URL: it may still display the information.

If something goes wrong

Government, educational, news and other public-interest pages may be handled differently. If monitoring is unavailable in your region or age group, use Google's relevant detailed removal route and document the URL.

Know the limit

A removed search result is not a deletion from the web, other search engines or archives. Google explicitly separates removal from the source and describes eligibility limits. Google's Results about you guide Google's removal options
