Review apps connected to your Google Account

A connected app can be useful, but an old grant may let a service access data long after you stop using it. Removing access is different from uninstalling its mobile app. A service may also keep data it already received.

Review one connection at a time

  1. Open your Google Account directly, then find the third-party connections or linked-apps page. Check both apps that use Google to sign in and apps that can access Google data; these are different relationships.
  2. Select an app and read its access details. Access to a calendar is not the same as access to Gmail or Drive. Decide whether you still use the feature that needs it.
  3. For an app you no longer trust or use, choose Remove access or delete the relevant link. Test any workflow you expected to keep, such as a calendar sync.

Interpret the result

Removing the connection stops future access through that grant, but may break the app and does not necessarily delete information it previously obtained. If you suspect misuse, also review recent account activity and report the app. Google's linked-app controls explain the distinct connection types. A change of Google password alone is not a substitute for reviewing authorized apps.

Avoid breaking a useful connection

Before revoking a grant, note which feature uses it. After removal, open that feature and confirm whether it is intentionally disconnected. If you want the service to delete data it previously received, check that provider's own privacy controls; Google's Remove access control does not do that deletion for you.
