Share an iPhone photo without its location

A picture can reveal a home or workplace even if the visible scene does not. Photos can carry location metadata alongside time and device details. Apple's sharing control lets you omit location from a particular share; it does not remove a place name or street number visible in the image itself. Check both sources of disclosure.

Before sending a photo​

1. Open the picture in Photos and inspect its information to see whether a location is attached. If the picture itself contains an address, badge or reflection, crop or cover that separately.
2. Tap Share, then Options at the top of the share sheet. Turn Location off, tap Done and choose the recipient or app. Repeat the check for the next share; do not assume an earlier choice applies forever.
3. For a photo that should not keep its location in your library, open its More menu, choose Adjust Location, then No Location. Check a copied test photo's details before relying on the result in another app.
4. If you never want Camera to add coordinates, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Camera and choose Never. This affects new captures, not copies already shared.

What remains visible​

Apple notes that sharing can include other metadata such as date and device details. A service may also process images differently, so verify a disposable test in the actual receiving app. Apple's photo-location instructions distinguish removing stored location from omitting it for one share. If another person already downloaded the original, changing your library copy will not alter theirs.
