What it is

site permission lets a specific website use a browser feature such as camera, microphone, location, notifications or clipboard access. A site may ask once, for this visit, or for continuing access depending on the browser and feature. The permission is separate from the operating-system switch that allows the browser app itself to use a device.
A practical example
You approve camera access for a video meeting. Months later, that site still appears under Chrome's allowed camera sites. Remove the grant if you no longer use it; the site can ask again if you return. If a call stops working, inspect both the website grant and the system camera setting before disabling all protection. Useful habit
Grant only the feature needed for the task and prefer a temporary choice when available. A permission does not prove that a site is trustworthy. Inspect the site's address first, and do not approve notifications to dismiss a fake virus warning.
